Nigeria - Government departments of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are currently in a state of confusion over which department's duty it is to deal with a new epidemic.
The terrible new outbreak has been tracked down to the television talent show, Nigerian Idol, and authorities have warned that it is a particularly virulent and yet inexplicable affliction that leaves victims squirming uncontrollably up to the point of serious physiological damage.
Experts are calling the new condition Chronic Cringing Syndrome and it seems to be triggered by watching ANY episode Nigerian Idols - at least that is what known sufferers have in common.
When the illness was first identified, authorities classified it as a Serious Health Concern, but with the admission of the 100th patient suffering from the mysterious condition it has now been officially classified as an epidemic.
Results of early investigations suggest that the illness takes hold not when contestants of the show are singing or attempting to sing, but when the judges are delivering their verdicts.
As the immediate causes of the condition are at not yet known, viewers of Nigerian Idol are being urged to take serious precautiosns when watching the programme, especially when Uncle Charlie Boy or Yinka Davies are talking.
