Abati: Calls for Keshi to be President are immature and premature
10 Feb 2013
Lagos – As Nigerians celebrate the success of their Super Eagles at the just concluded African Cup of Nations, civil society voices have noted that football is the one thing that unites the Nation, apart from love of dissing Ghanaians.
Eminent Nigerian social activists and commentators, perhaps from euphoria of winning the AFCON cup, have noted that, historically, Nigerian Presidential candidates, and indeed, Presidents, don’t really require any special abilities, so why not the glorious coach of the Super Eagles?
The chief Presidential spokesperson, Uncle Reuben Abati, has however chided the people calling for Steven Keshi, the Nigerian Coach, to run for President in 2015.
According to him, such pronouncements, when there is a clear and preferred sitting President, are both immature, premature, reckless, and unpatriotic.
