Lagos - People have today been advised that a leap year is not a holiday, nor is the 29th of February, hence greeting people "Happy Leap Year" is not required.

This advice came too late as internet Nigerians have already started making the non-holiday holiday greeting on twitter and facebook and a few of their friends have been replaying “same to you.”

There are now fears over the day fuel subsidy is totally removed or fully restored.

An anxious Nigerian speaking on the Happy Leap Year greeting said, “The other day someone greeted me Happy Occupying. It took a while for it to sink in. I said thanks and quickly walked away. Now I’m afraid someone is going to send me a Happy Leap Year email or a message and I just don’t know how I’m going to handle it.”
