Nigerians to take course in airplane etiquette before boarding planes
07 Mar 2012
Abuja - There are strong indications that the Federal Ministry for Aviation has bowed to pressure from foreign airlines and decided to introduce a compulsory airplane etiquettes course that all Nigerians wishing to board an international flight must take.
Details are still sketchy but sources claim that the course will include teaching people how to weigh their bags before getting to an airport, and showing intending travelers pictures of baggage handlers so they'll see that they are normal people like them and not giant weight lifters.
Other elements of the compulsory course will include lessons on the science of mobile technology, air waves and an airplane’s electronic controls.
Passengers will also be taught proper manners such as using only the space in the overhead luggage compartments over their allocated seats.
Finally, the course will contain a series of patience-building exercises in which participants would be told to remain seated until a light in the classroom turns green. This part of the course is the most crucial, failing it will automatically result in the intending passenger failing the airline etiquettes course and they won't be issued with a certificate of completion, hence they won't be able to travel overseas by air.
