Pension Scam Judge booked till 2019

Abuja – While trying to get an interview with the Abuja High Court judge who presided over the $203 million scam, this reporter unravelled an interesting piece of information.

It appears that the Honourable Judge’s calendar is fully booked until 2019.

According to a court clerk, ever since the judge handed down a sentence of 2 years in prison or option of $4,500 fine to Mr. John Yusus, the former Police Pension Fund boss who was found guilty of stealing $203 million, the judge has been inundated with requests by defence lawyers who want him to try their clients’ cases.

“We have never seen a thing like this before,” the clerk said. “Normally, people don’t use to beg us to assign their case to certain judges, but now, all the lawyers representing former governors and commissioners and senators are all asking us to make sure only this judge should hear their case. We don’t understand the reason for this.”
