Lagos- These are proving to be difficult times for Nigerian artistes traveling abroad. As earlier reported by WR in the wake of the Baba Suwe drug mess (no pun intended), a drop was recorded in the number of Nollywood stars leaving the country. Since his release however, more film practitioners have felt more confident going away to honor commitments outside Nigeria.

Unfortunately, a popular Nollywood actress (name withheld) has become a casualty of the new measures the NDLEA has put in place to ensure that no narcotics, ingested or otherwise, leave the country.

WR gathers that the agency has recently introduced the use of sniffer dogs in a bid to boost its declining profile as confidence in the efficacy of body scanners has waned.

The dogs are said to have been trained in Ajegunle by a crack team of dog whisperer type agents.

Other measures put in place, (but not publicly disclosed), include equipping staff with powerful charms to counter the effect of charms that drug smugglers use on agency staff.

The Nollywood actress first aroused suspicion when the picture in her passport was of a much darker skinned person.

The chemically aided fair skinned lady was then mauled by NDLEA mutts, Bingo and Rasta, as she went through immigration.

She was immediately whisked away by male agents who eagerly strip searched her. When the search yielded no results, her hand luggage was taken apart only to reveal no illicit drugs.

It turns out that what set the dogs off were the large quantities of dried stockfish heads, kpomo, fried snails and locust beans that the actress had concealed in her Ghana-must-go.

The contraband foodstuff was immediately confiscated by the agency kitchen staff and the actress was let off with a stern warning.

A rep for the actress insists she will seek legal redress for the humiliation suffered at the hands of the NDLEA and its canine co-conspirators.

She will also be suing for lost wages as she would have made at least two movies in the 5 hrs she was detained by the NDLEA.
