City People up for Lifetime Achievement Honor at Ragtag Journalism Awards
27 Oct 2011

Shocker!
Lagos- Nigeria's #1 'soft sell' magazine, City People, is to have bestowed upon it, the Lifetime Achievement Honors at the 2011 Ragtag Journalism Awards Ceremony.
In a pre award show press conference, Mr. I.M de Luded- one of the organizers of the event said, "City People is being recognized for the tremendous contributions it has made in the world of tabloid journalism. The magazine is a pioneer in this industry and honor must be given where honor is due."
Some of the said 'contributions' include:
1) Managing to sneak the word ''penultimate'' and phrase, ''...storm the venue'' into every story
2) The ability to run inane headlines such as: "R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D! Top Nollywood Actresses who Wear Waist Beads!" And, "E-X-P-O-S-E-D! Yabatech Babes who Drive Tokunboh Cars!"
3) Possessing the gall to claim to have an editor on the payroll when all stories are poorly written and grammatically incomprehensible
City People can also lay claim to be the tabloid most quoted by busy-bodies and the magazine most used to wrap up hot akara balls by street hawkers.
Holding at the Lakayana Hotel Ogba, the award show will be broadcast live on NTA Channel 7 on November 20th 2011. Musical guests at the event include acclaimed international acts such as Vic O, Afro Candy and Speed Darlington.
The management of City People has expressed much pride at finally being recognized for its hard work. Publisher, Seye Kehinde explained that his goal is to elevate CP to the dizzying heights of such well knownUS tabloids such as 'The Enquirer'.
