FACT: Nigerians have more muscles
Wisconsin - A new set of muscles not seen in any other human being has been discovered in the arms and shoulders of Nigerians.
Scientists came by this chance discovery when the teenage son of Nigerian immigrants in America tested for his college's baseball team.
The boy who, had never played baseball in his life, and who did not even understand the rules of the game, astonished spectators when he pitched faster than any pro on record.
His amazing feat led to suspicion of drug taking because nothing about his thin physique hinted at underlying super strength. During a thorough medical examination, doctor's discovered that the boy's right arm and shoulder had more muscle mass than his left arm and shoulder.
Further examination revealed a totally new set of muscles around the pectoralis major, lattisimus dorsi, and deltoids, that at the time seemed unique to the boy; they thought he was some sort of freak or something.
On a hunch, scientists started checking other Nigerians for the extra set of muscles and in no time they gathered evidence that many more Nigerians also had the new set of muscles.
What baffled scientists more than the discovery of the previously unseen muscles was the fact that they were only present in Nigerians living in Nigeria or those who were born in Nigeria and had only recently migrated out of Nigeria.
To unravel the mystery, a team of scientists visited Nigeria to study the diet and habits of Nigerians and to take soil and water samples.
They were working on a theory that Nigerians had evolved the new muscles due to environmental factors such as pollutants in their food chain.
They soon found their answer however, when on their first field trip in the country, they witnessed a child of no more than two years ‘pulling generator.’
In their publication in the International Journal of Science, the researchers wrote: "Due to decades of power failure and the action of manually cranking generating sets, the subjects under study have evolved additional articulated muscles in their arm, shoulder and back regions and they have passed this on through generations. "
It is the first ever observed evidence of Government failure leading to evolutionary adaptation."
