Nigerians now greeting each other Happy Resumption of BlackBerry service

Happy New Bold, Happy New Year, Happy...

Lagos – Indeed, it has been said that Nigerians are the happiest people of Earth, and maybe it has to do with their ability to be thankful for all things.

As a people, they are always wishing each other happy one thing or the other. It is Happy Christmas, Happy Independence day, Happy Public Holiday, Happy Environmental Sanitation Day, or happy whatever else is happening at the time.

Perhaps it is this constant wishing of happiness for each other that has made them so happy.

Theories aside, Nigerians now have one more thing to be happy about and they have accordingly added to their repertoire of greetings.

This morning, as BlackBerry phones blinked back to life and icons told of numerous messages waiting to be read, a new greeting was being passed from friend to friend and stranger to stranger via indiscriminate BB messenger broadcasts.

The message is, 'Happy return of BB service,' or its shortened variant, 'Happy BB service.'

And it’s only inNigeria that people will see it fit to celebrate this happy turn of events, and to wish each other happiness for its sake.

A happy people? Nay. A VERY happy people.
