Lagos– A new game has taken over from planking which was declared officially dead after Jenifa star, Funke Akindele, joined in by planking atop a bag of rice. After that, it just wasn’t cool to do it anymore.

Wazobia Report can authoritatively reveal that the new game called Owling, in which participants crouch like a bird (an Owl) in unusual places, originated in Nigeria.

As usual, the internet is awash with false claims of who started the new game, and how and when it started, but careful investigative journalism has traced the roots of Owling to pit latrine usage in Nigeria.

Specifically, secondary school boys from a school in theMushin area of Lagos were first to take pictures of their mates taking a dump in this position. They shared the pictures via Blackberry messenger and the rest is now history.

Anyone who grew up in Nigeria and attended certain types of schools would instantly recognize the posture of a person crouching over a hole in the ground.

In fact, according to the internet, part of the game is to look away to the side while crouching. This also comes from using a pit latrine as one has to turn their head away to avoid the foul odours oozing out of the pit.

But just like break dancing, rump shaking, and television, white people have stolen the idea and given it their own name, Owling, thus denying the Mushin Secondary School boys the fame they deserve for inventing a new and totally pointless game.

Just in case you are wondering: Blacks invented the television but gave it a different name and only used it to monitor their enemies. They called it Juju. Then the white man came again and stole Juju as well and called it Science.
