My reply
Dear Mr Gun,
It depends on a lot of things, particularly where on the continuum of time you are.
In the eighties mobile phones where like mobile dumbbells, so in the nineties smaller was all the rage. But time-warp to the present and tiny phones are no longer in vogue.
Similarly, big limousines were a must have for Hollywood stars, and the bigger the better. This is what gave us such monstrosities as the Hummer, (only surpassed in irritability by the yellow Hummer). But with time, and with all the noise over global warming and the size of J'lo's behind, people started to think that maybe big is not so good. The cute little Toyota Prius suddenly became popular, with stars like Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Ted Danson, and Jack Nicholson all owning their own four wheeled conscience cleansers.
Indeed, once upon a time people used to think that a big rotund body was a a sign of good health and women of class used to put a lot of effort into beefing up their love handles before posing naked for renaissance painters. Thank God that fad didn't take. Today, we all know that excess body fat is not just nasty too look at, but its also a form of suicide.
So you see, size has always mattered, but not always in the same direction.
With some things however, bigger would always be better. For instance, if you have an itch on your back and you are alone, having long arms will help, don't you think? Or if you live with fools, having a big strong palm will come in handy when there's slapping to be done. Let's go back to the itch for a minute. If a person has an itch somewhere they can't reach and they ask you to help, it would be nice if you are able to get to the spot where it itches, right?
I hope I've answered your question satisfactorily.
Aunty Ngozi
